400m hurdler Knight runs season’s best 53.84 in Florida
Andrenette Knight ran a season’s best 53.84 seconds and Sean Rowe made a winning start to his 400m hurdles season as they were both winners at Saturday’s Star Athletics Sprint Series in Montverde, Florida.
Knight, who assumed the position as the top Jamaican so far, ahead of Rushell Clayton’s 54.15 seconds to move into the number four lot in the world, beat American Anna Cockrell – 54.20 seconds and Gianna Woodruff – 56.29 seconds.
It was the third-straight win for Knight who had run 54.20 seconds to win the event at last weekend’s Music City Track Carnival in Nashville, Tennessee.
Rowe, semi-finalists at last year’s World Athletics Championships and the Olympic Games in Japan in 2021, clocked 49.08 seconds in his first competitive 400m hurdles race, beating Jaheel Hyde-49.70 seconds.
Marvin Williams was fourth in a season’s best 50.23 seconds and Sean Kalawan fifth in 50.51 seconds, also his best so far this season.
World Championships 4x400m relay medallist Junelle Bromfield was fourth in the women’s 400m in 52.10 seconds.
