The Style Issue, May 25, 2023
Celebrities turned out in droves to walk the red carpet at the premiere of Martin Scorsese’s much-anticipated Killers of the Flower Moon at the Cannes Film Festival that ran May 16-27. None did it better however, than British-Jamaican supermodel Naomi Campbell who appeared alongside CEO of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival Mohammed Al-Turki, in a stellar red cut-out gown from Italian fashion luxury house Valentino that featured a sheer feathered cape that made its own statement.
Meanwhile, Page 2 would like to believe that the international fabulocracy has been taking notes from our very own Rock style connoisseurs. First, the 2022 Netflix series, Young, Famous & African featured African reality TV stars Bonang Matheba and Capo Tana wearing the same style gowns that were previously worn by finance exec Erica Anderson and her niece Jaime-Leigh McCook at a recent birthday celebration held at luxury beach resort, Half Moon. Both were styled for the affair by Eroleen Anderson, principal of Resortwear by Eroleen.
Then images of American supermodel Ashley Graham in a show-stopping cloud grey gown from luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, for the Cannes Film Festival have been flooding the Internet. Graham’s gown features similar design characteristics of a Norma Williams (BrandED) conceptualised platinum gown for the Sagicor Corporate Awards: Met Gala-themed affair held on March 22 of this year and worn by Sagicor Life Executive Financial Advisor Tiffany Lawson.
