Man on cocaine charges to be sentenced June 6
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A man, who admitted to attempting to export over four pounds of cocaine, is to be sentenced come June 6 in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
Alester Christies pleaded guilty to the charges of possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine. However, he pleaded not guilty to the offence of conspiracy to export the illicit drug.
It was revealed that on May 2, Christie was caught at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston with four pounds and three ounces of cocaine. He was arrested and charged.
Christie’s defence attorney told Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague that his client has no previous convictions and is a father of five “who are dependent on him.”
Because Christie was remanded the judge said, “I will take that time into consideration when I sentence him.”
June 6 was set for the sentencing to allow the Crown adequate time to receive Christie’s records.
