April Traffic Report
Sangster International Airport (SIA) is reporting a 13 per cent year-over-year growth from 402,200 terminal passengers to 454,400 terminal passengers for April. This performance is above the April 2019 figures of 424,700 passengers. Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) recorded a 26 per cent increase in air traffic from 116,600 passengers to 146,600 passengers for April. SIA’s year-to-date traffic of 1.81 million passengers is 36 per cent higher than the 1.33 million passengers in January – April 2022, while NMIA had a 41 per cent increase in year-to-date traffic of 540,900 passengers.
April Performance
Sygnus Real Estate Finance Limited (USD shares) was the best-performing stock in April as it rose by 56 per cent from US$0.07 to US$0.1089. KLE Group Limited, Medical Disposables and Supplies Limited, Sygnus Real Estate Finance Limited (JMD shares), TransJamaican Highway Limited (JMD shares), Stanley Motta Limited (SML), CAC 2000 Limited and IronRock Insurance Company Limited were the best-performing stocks in April.
MPC Caribbean Clean Energy Limited (USD shares) was the worst-performing stock in April as it declined by 16 per cent from US$0.6980 to US$0.5843. Productive Business Solutions Limited, FirstRock Real Estate Investments Limited (JMD shares), Knutsford Express Services Limited, Lasco Manufacturing Limited, AMG Packaging & Paper Company Limited, tTech Limited, and ISP Finance Services Limited were the other worst-performing stocks in April.
Regency Petroleum Company Limited is the best-performing stock year-to-date as it remains up 56 per cent from $1.59 to $2.48. Main Event Entertainment Group Limited, ISP Finance, Palace Amusement Company (1921) Limited, Consolidated Bakeries (Jamaica) Limited, TransJamaican Highway (JMD shares), SML and Ciboney are the other stocks showing good year-to-date performances.
FosRich Company Limited is the worst-performing stock so far in 2023, with the stock down from $3.91 to $2.65 at the end of April. Caribbean Flavours & Fragrances Limited Limited, First Rock Real Estate Investments Limited (JMD Shares), First Rock Real Estate (USD shares), Blue Power Group Limited, Future Energy Source Company Limited, Berger Paints Jamaica Limited, and Elite Diagnostics Limited are the other stocks showing big declines year-to-date.
Market Events
Dwight Burchell departed as the group chief financial officer of iCreate Limited on April 23 with Chadwick Bennett appointed to the role on April 24.
Rosalyn Campbell has resigned as a director of FosRich Company Limited effective April 30.
Sagicor Group Jamaica executives Donnette Scarlett and Mark Chisholm were appointed to the board of 138 Student Living Limited and its subsidiary on May 3.
IronRock Insurance Company Limited has declared its first dividend of $0.0325 to be paid on June 30 to shareholders on record as of May 19. This payment totals $6.96 million.
The Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) has declared a dividend on its preference shares: seven per cent (B) — $0.035; five per cent (C) — $0.025; five per cent (D) — $0.025; and six per cent (E) — $0.03. These will be paid on June 30 to shareholders on record as of June 15.
