Tea, Anyone?
Likkle Tea Ltd principal Patrique Goodall’s job involves acting as a consultant for all things tea-related. She sources new teas, develops new flavour profiles, and translates global trends for the local market, all while spilling the ‘tea’ on her business with buyers.
It’s sounds like a lot but Goodall loves what she does. So much so that she prides herself in sharing her knowledge with whoever is willing to learn. And she did just that on Thursday, April 27, as she took over the Julie Mango dining room for her first Tea Flight.
It might come across as a tad pretentious to teach people how to taste tea. For, we all know how to taste, right? Actually, we don’t! Goodall says tea tasting is something that a lot of people can find challenging and the skill of a taster begins with the decision to take on that challenge with passion and confidence.
Approximately 30 tea lovers joined her eager to learn the time-honoured set of rules to assess the flavour of tea. Equipped with chart to document the process, colour and aroma wheels for reference, and open minds, guests savoured four unique tea blends from across the world artfully complemented with menu favourites from the restaurant.
