The Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica (CWC) Gala Fashion Show was an ode to Jamaican fashion. Held Sunday, April 30 under the theme ‘Spring Into Fashion’, the event saw Jamaican fashion designers sending some of their best work down the runway at the AC Hotel Kingston’s Rocksteady ballroom in hopes of raising funds for this year’s beneficiaries: The Cockpit and Kintyre basic schools.
Comprised of Canadian women living in Jamaica and non-Canadians committed to the group’s mission, the CWC is a tight-knit non-profit organisation that has been donating to Jamaican communities for over 60 years.
The runway show — though postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic — has become a staple on the fashion scene with a fund-raising target this year of $2.8 million. Eager supporters turned out in droves to champion the cause.
