Stefan Peninsilyn spreads the gospel with ‘WarFare’
Known for his humourous approach to spreading the gospel, Stefan Peninsilyn offers another serving with WarFare, his fifth album which was released in February.
The set features songs like Three Feet One Yard which scolds husbands who cheat on their wives.
The Florida-based Peninsilyn worked with several producers on WarFare including Troy “Drum Rat” Wilson, brother of deejay Red Rat.
It is the follow-up to Wen di Trumpet Sound, his previous album, which came out in 2022.
“This one is different because this is a hardcore album while my previous one was a kinda on the soft, singing side. I love the mento sounding riddims yes, but always my favourite is the one drop hardcore,” Peninsilyn told the OBSERVER ONLINE.
Peninsilyn, whose given name is Stavan Whyte, is best known in Jamaica for winning successive Festival Song Contests in 2003 and 2004 with Jamaican Tour Guide and Ole Time Jamaica.
Three Feet One Yard, he stated, is not trivialising adultery.
“In all my songs I am always sending a message,” said Peninsilyn, who is an ordained minister of religion.
He has also dabbled in theatre and film, writing and acting in Foolish Advice, a 2019 movie based on Hosea and Gomer from the Old Testament.
It had a brief run at Tradition Town Hall in Port St Lucie, Florida four years ago.
