Charmaine’s mantra: #loveeverybloomingthing
Plants and, indeed, my love of plants have been an integral part of my life. I remember fondly the time I would spend in my parents’ garden helping to water or plant, even if I did not know the names. Fast-forward an undisclosed number of years later and I still don’t know the names, but now I have my own garden! The idea that I would be showcasing it to those outside of my immediate circle was never intended, but here I am spouting the idea of “kerb appeal” learnt during my hotel years when it became a thing.
What started as a love of plants has now become an obsession with no space in the garden having moved to pots and trees, so I can collect more. Therapy has been recommended.
Everything that blooms or has an interesting look or is compatible with our weather, is perfect to include in your garden. Choose what will make your heart sing! Texture, colour, height, smell are just some of the reasons I pick plants, and my friends know exactly what to gift me. I particularly like bromeliads, desert roses and orchids.
The hashtag #loveeverybloomingthing is my mantra. Because of my garden, I was able to navigate the last three years of COVID-19 that rocked our world and since leaving an industry that I contributed a lot to and spent most of my working life in. Now, since taking a different direction in real estate, having more time to putter around and nurture friends, fauna and flora have become my medicine.
