Byam’s Heart A Gold
Despite all the adversities in the world, Florida-based producer Samuel Byam was inspired by the light at the end of the tunnel when he released the Heart A Gold rhythm.
“The title originated from the track done by Bramma. It simply means that we still have good in our hearts, despite what may appear to be bad going on in the world,” the producer told the Jamaica Observer.
Produced under his own SamiRanks Music label, the project was officially released on March 24. The rhythm was composed by Wizzla, while mixing and mastering was done by Yaad of Fame Music.
Containing nine tracks in all, other featured artistes on the rhythm include Munga Honorable, Laden, Swashii, Wasp Above Average, Dean Fraser, and Halonai. The producer’s family also makes an appearance.
“I’ve worked with a few of the artistes in the past. I try to stay connected with great energy; once you have one link, the connection is made for others. I’ve worked with Bramma, Wasp, Laden and Swashii on previous projects and Halonai has always been a great friend and engineered on most of my projects. This was my first time working with Munga Honorable; and my wife, Nicola, heard the rhythm and decided she wanted to write to it, so she ended up being a major part of the project, as well with our five-year-old daughter Samiyah,” the producer explained.
Since its release, the producer has been receiving great feedback on the project from as far as Europe.
“My goal with this project is to let the people know reggae music is still alive. It doesn’t always require the older generation to push the positive lyrics. The young ones and established ones also have a heart of gold and we want people to still believe in positive music and support it,”Byam said.
In production since 1997, the producer has worked on a host of productions, with his first major project being a collaboration with Lutan Fyah called Life Hard. He has also released a few singles as an artiste, namely My Story, Mi Tyad, Last Night and Dat Mi Say.
“My style is to attract the fans, have them dance and also listen. I believe music is great when you have something catchy that stays in your mind. I don’t mind doing dancehall, which I have done several times, but I keep going back to the ‘peace of mind’ type of flow,” the producer stated.
With Heart A Gold joining the list of rhythms to include Truth Be Told, Body Good and Summa Starta, the producer is gearing up to release even more music in the coming months.
“As a producer, I believe the talent is hidden. It takes a lot of work, connecting, arranging, administration, and patience to make the end user have a great experience. I just continue to hope people will pay more attention to producers and give them the credit they may deserve. It’s all one team. Without the producers and engineers, the artistes wouldn’t be where they are,” he said.
