Shericka Jackson, Sha’Carri Richardson to clash over 100m at Doha DL
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The fastest woman alive over 200m, Shericka Jackson, will take on American Sha’Carri Richardson in the 100m at the Doha Diamond League meeting in Qatar on May 5.
Jackson opened her 2023 100m campaign at the Velocity Fest 13 meet at the National Stadium last Saturday, recording a meeting record and a world-leading time of 10.82 seconds in the process. The World 100m silver medallist erased American Aleia Hobbs’ world-lead of 10.89 seconds, set at the LSU Alumni Gold 2023 hours earlier.
Jackson opened her 2022 season with an 11.00 clocking.
Meanwhile, Richardson ran a winded-aided 10.57 seconds to win the event at the 2023 Miramar Invitational. The time converts to 10.77 with a legal wind.
The other women who will face the starter in the 100m are 2019 World 200m gold medal winner Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain and Americans Abby Steiner, Melissa Jefferson, Teahna Daniels, TeeTee Terry and Zoe Hobbs of Australia.
