PwC Jamaica fetes over 200 students, teachers and staff for Easter at St Michael’s Primary
PWC Jamaica partners and staff jointly contributed $600,000 towards the hosting of a memorable fun day and donation of a deep freezer for the students and staff at St Michael’s Primary School in Kingston.
To mark the Easter break, students and staff were treated to delicious fare while the students engaged in an obstacle course and enjoyed a bounce-a-bout and merry-go-round ahead of the long weekend.
“We truly enjoy being of service to our community, especially our children. This treat allowed us to engage with the students of St Michael’s in a fun and positive way while allowing the staff and teachers to relax. It was really heart-warming to see the students enjoying themselves after two plus years of restrictions due to COVID. We hope that activities such as this can create a small bridge in improving the social well-being of the students and, by extension, their communities as they continue to adjust to a new normal,” said Gail Moore, partner and environment lead at PwC Jamaica.
PwC Jamaica also handed over a 14.8 cubic feet freezer to Juliet Campbell McPherson, principal of the school, to help enhance the school’s food safety practices.
Campbell McPherson thanked the PwC team on behalf of the teachers and students and noted that she appreciated PwC’s commitment to the community.
“At St Michael’s we value the overall wellness of our students. We try our best to have activities that engage the complete student but we also want to ensure our children enjoy play and have safe, childlike experiences for as long as they are students in our care. So, we are delighted that one of our constant partners and friends, PwC, renewed this activity and put on a play-filled Easter treat for our students,” she said.
“We are also thankful for the donation of a new freezer to help us better serve our students on a daily basis. We look forward to the continued development of our relationship with PwC.”
PwC Jamaica has been the sponsor for St Michael’s Infant and Primary School’s Christmas treats since December 2003. However, with the onset of COVID-19 the annual treat was put on hold and other initiatives adopted. This Easter treat marks the official return to the firm’s annual community project. Two hundred and ninety-nine students from communities in downtown Kingston attend the school.
