STETHS cop another Grace Foods ‘Move like a Champ’ competition
St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) emerged as the winner of the Grace Foods ‘Move like a Champ’ competition for the second-consecutive year, earning a cash prize of $360,000 for the school.
In addition to the prize money for the schools, the students/participants from the top three winning schools will each receive $20,000 in a First Global Bank (FGB) Starter account plus other goodies courtesy of Grace, ear buds and Grace grocery hampers. The top five winners of the competition were announced on the final day of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships on Saturday April 1 at the National Stadium.
First and second place went to St Mary High School and Kingston College, respectively. Each school will receive $265,000 and $175,000, respectively. The fourth and fifth place schools, Foga Road High and Kingston Technical High, will each receive $100,000.
The promotion, which was announced at the launch of the 113th staging of ‘Champs’ on March 15, invited students to submit videos of up to 90 seconds showcasing their school spirit for a chance to win cash and prizes for themselves and their school. Scores of submissions were adjudicated, and the top five entries were posted to Grace Foods Instagram page for the public to vote for their favourites.
“The ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Championship is the largest investment for the GraceKennedy Group annually, and we take pride in not only supporting our student athletes but also finding fun and creative ways to get the wider school body involved, and the ‘Move like a Champ’ competition is one such way,” shared Karen Mussington, senior brand manager, Grace Foods.
Last year the winning schools received tablets to assist with online learning. Mussington shared that with the full reopening of schools the prizes were expanded to include a direct contribution to the school for them to invest in boosting their resources.
