Come get your cows!
Dear Editor,
Would the owner of the bovines grazing on prime land in the tourist resort of Montego Bay please come get them.
It is unconscionable that a cow pen has been built on land across the street from MegaMart on one side and several residential properties in Catherine Hall on the other. It is also just a stone’s throw away from the swanky 100 restaurant and lounge and not far from Catherine Hall Sports Complex.
I noted with interest an article in the March 27, 2023 edition of the Jamaica Observer in which Councillor Dwight Crawford, in whose Spring Garden Division this blatant disregard for the law is allowed to happen, threatened to have the animals hauled off to the pound.
Councillor, the cows were still there on Easter Monday.
In search of grass on which to graze, the cattle no longer remain in their unsightly wooden pen, yielding instead to the temptation of spreading out on land that runs adjacent to the very heavily trafficked road that connects the Marco Brown and Howard Cooke boulevards. This is an accident waiting to happen. It may very well be fatal.
Since it appears that the local authorities have no power to act, I am appealing to the owner of the cattle: Please come get your cows!
