TMC commences process to repair damaged roof of Falmouth courthouse
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – The Trelawny Municipal Corporation (TMC) is working assiduously to undertake urgent repairs to a section of the roof that houses the Trelawny Parish Court in Falmouth, which collapsed on Wednesday.
The courthouse is located upstairs the Trelawny Municipal Corporation headquarters.
According to chairman of the TMC, Councillor C Junior Gager, the technical team at the municipality commenced assessment of the damage on Thursday and are now finalising an estimate to undertake repairs.
Jamaica Court Administration Division closed the Trelawny Parish Court in Falmouth until further notice after the roof collapsed.
All matters have since been transferred to the courthouse in Duncans, effective Thursday.
Gager told OBSERVER ONLINE that the TMC and the Ministry of Justice have been in dialogue since the mishap.
“We are working assiduously to see how quickly we can get the damage rectified. We are now in dialogue with the Ministry of Justice and we hope to address the inconvenience expeditiously,” Gager said.
