Flow Foundation powers livestreaming of PALS concert
The Flow Foundation recently collaborated with Peace and Love in Society (PALS) to facilitate the livestreaming of its annual Peace Day concert which promotes conflict resolution in schools. For almost 30 years, PALS has been an advocate for a more peaceful society and this year it partnered with Project STAR to take its Peace Day concert activities to Calabar Infant and Primary School on March 7.
Project STAR is a social and economic transformation initiative created by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) in partnership with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and has been carrying out targeted interventions in the Central Kingston communities of Parade Gardens and Rose Gardens, where Calabar Infant and Primary School is located.
This year’s Peace Day theme was ‘Be The Peace’, which encouraged everyone to embody the principles of a peacemaker in order to positively impact society. In addition to the hundreds of students in attendance, schools across the island joined the Peace Day concert livestream for its powerful messages and great entertainment.
“The support of the internet service was of tremendous value,” noted Janilee Abrikian, Executive Director of PALS. “For one, it allowed for posterity as some schools had a clash and could not join the livestream, but they could go on at a later time and view the concert.”
“More importantly, however, the internet is an invaluable tool that allows us to spread the message of peace to more people and it is a catalyst for positive change in our society.”
Meanwhile, LeVaughn Flynn, Flow’s Public Relations Manager, pointed out that, “The Flow technology plays an important role in society and supports social development through interconnectedness. The PALS concert is a great example of how we live our philosophy of ‘connecting communities and changing lives’”.
Along with Flow and Project STAR, other partners in the Peace Day concert included RJR Gleaner Communications Group, Barita Foundation, CB Facey Foundation, Digicel Foundation, VM Group, Supreme Ventures, GraceKennedy, Jamaica Producers, KFC, Wata, and Allied Protection.
