Myles sets NAIA Championships record
Former Edwin Allen High and Rusea’s High runner Salieci Myles set a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) championship record 8.20 seconds to win the women’s 60m hurdles at Sanford-Jackrabbit Complex, South Dakota, on Saturday.
The William Carey sophomore who was second in the event last year broke her personal best 8.35 seconds set earlier this year. She also lowered the previous championship record of 8.31 set by Akela Jones of Oklahoma Baptist in 2014.
Her time was also a new William Carey school record, beating the 8.23 set last year by Joy Abu who was eighth in the final.
Former St Jago High and Hydel High athlete Machaeda Linton, also of William Carey, won the women’s long jump with 6.14m. Linton was fourth in the triple jump with 12.26m.
Soyinne Grenyion of Indiana Tech was fourth in the women’s 60m in 7.47; Fredricka McKenzie of William Carey was seventh in 7.52; and Myles eighth in 7.56, another personal best.
