DJ Arif Cooper has died
Popular disc jockey and record producer Arif Cooper has died.
Cooper reportedly collapsed while on the job at a party at the Police Officers Club in St Andrew early Sunday.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There has been an outpouring of shock and grief on social media following news of his passing, with some hailing the DJ as one of the greatest in the industry.
The son of Third World founding member Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper, Arif was introduced to music at an early age and began DJing at house parties in the early 1990s.
For more than two decades, he served at FAME FM as a broadcaster and DJ.
Cooper is also known for creating the Guardian Angel rhythm featuring TOK and Tami Chynn, and has also produced and written for ace deejays Sean Paul and Beenie Man.
