‘Del’ Banbury’s Friday farewell
Hundreds packed the Church of St Margaret’s in Liguanea, St Andrew, on Friday to say farewell to slain businessman Dellevale “Del” Banbury who was ambushed and shot dead in St Mary in the late afternoon of January 12.
The 72-year-old Banbury, who was involved in paint and financial operations, was heading from Kingston to St Mary where parts of his businesses are located when he was attacked at Chovey, also called Georgia, by men who investigators had said days after, had been trailing him.
A large amount of cash was said to have been retrieved by the police, after the car plunged over the edge of the Wag Water River.
His killers remain at large.
Reverend Father Franklyn Jackson officiated while tributes were offered by Nicholas Banbury and Kelly-Ann Rodgers; Liberty Learning Centre Dancers; Dandre Fielding and Kyla Lawrence (read by Tatyana Scott and Mario Thomas); as well as Maria Myrie.
Matthew Gayle did the remembrance.
Banbury’s body was cremated.
