JDF’s Gilzene credits greater focus for century vs Melbourne
Tevin Gilzene says greater maturity in his batting approach was central to his century for Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) against Melbourne CC in the drawn Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) two-day Senior Cup match at Up Park Camp.
Gilzene, who recently made his first-class debut for Jamaica Scorpions against Barbados Pride in Antigua, struck 15 fours and four sixes in his 108 off 116 deliveries against Melbourne last weekend.
“After debuting for Jamaica I got to a point where I felt more responsible as a batter. The value I place on my wicket is different from before, even though it’s continuous learning for me,” he told the Jamaica Observer after the encounter.
He noted it was “tough mentally and physically” while batting against a Melbourne bowling attack which included some of his national teammates.
