Capleton headlines stellar lineup for Live Band Thursdays
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The “Fyah Man” Capleton will headline a stellar lineup of veteran reggae acts for this week’s Live Band Thursdays which is being held at the AMC Plaza in Portmore, St Catherine as part of Reggae Month activities.
Professor Nuts, Echo Minott and Fantan Mojah are among the other acts slated to perform, according to event promoter Franklyn Mason Snr.
“What we are offering is authentic live reggae music and just a good time. The show starts at 8pm, there is no cover charge, food and drinks will be available for purchase and you know food is Jungle Fiah thing. So we have you covered,” Mason Snr said. “This isn’t a new show, this is something we are known for and reggae has always been our thing but the caliber artiste we use and the type of show this will be is going to be something special.”
For the promoter, this will be the second event endorsed by Reggae Month organisers. According to him, the partnership was a no-brainer and has been mutually beneficial.
“It was a very natural collaboration. People are really enjoying the partnership because there are not many reggae events anymore especially outside of Reggae Month or special events. People look forward to coming to something different than the dancehall sometimes,” he said, admitting that he always makes it his point of duty to host events that boast a more mature lineup.
“We always make an effort to include veterans as they are the foundation. We have to keep their legacy and music alive, we owe that much to them. We do this not just for this week’s shows but all our live shows and we are known for that.”
He went on to admit that maintaining a show that boasts a mature lineup can sometimes prove challenging but expressed that having built a relationship with a number of entertainers, he manages to get their commitment.
“It was a little tedious (getting all the artistes to say yes to the event) as everyone has such a busy schedule, but because we have built great relationships with many of them we were able to pull through, “Mason divulged.
“We really have to give a huge big up to all the artistes on our lineup, both present and past, because they really do us a favour by appearing for us and giving us way more than we ask for just to keep reggae alive,” Mason Snr concluded.
