Milo returns as title sponsors for Western Relays
Milo has returned as the title sponsor for the 44th staging of Western Relays which is slated to be held at GC Foster Sports College on Saturday.
The popular brand has sponsored the event for 24 years, but was absent last year when the meet returned after taking a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At a media briefing on Tuesday at Deja Resorts on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in Montego Bay, Meet Director Ray Harvey and Regional Consumer Marketing Manager for Nestle, Chevanne Lawrence confirmed the renewal of the arrangement.
Harvey told the press conference that “there was no falling out between the parties”, while Lawrence added that decisions were made at “a higher level coming out of the pandemic,” but stated that they were happy to be back.
The event, which is being held at GC Foster for the third straight year due to the unavailability of the track at Catherine Hall, is expected to host a number of the top schools in the island including Edwin Allen High, Kingston College, St Jago High, Cornwall College, Herbert Morrison and Mt Alvernia High.
There will be competition in five different relays- 4x100m, 4x200m, 4×400, 4×800 and Sprint Medley. There will also be individual events- 100m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 3000m, as well as sprint and intermediate hurdles, long jump and high jump.
