WATCH: ‘Him a focus pon taxi and not crime’
ST ANDREW, Jamaica – A taxi operator plying the Half Way Tree route in St Andrew is calling for Prime Minster Andrew Holness to resign, citing what he describes as “unfair treatment” by the Government regarding the Road Traffic Act.
“Too much focus pon taxi, none pon crime,” the cabbie said of the prime minister in an interview with OBSERVER ONLINE.
Taxi operators in several parishes opted to withdraw their services on Monday. The provisions of the New Road Traffic Act have been the source of grievance for many operators, primarily the increase in fines for breaches.
“Mi nuh like how the country a look. The country a go dung inna wreck. All baby dem a tax,” another cabbie told our news team.
