He had reportedly been eluding police since a manhunt was launched to apprehend him after a video allegedly showed him viciously beating a woman in Half Way Tree, St Andrew on Wednesday.
In the 18-second video, a man is seen stomping on a woman lying on the ground. The man repeatedly yells expletives at the crying woman before making his escape.
After the man flees, onlookers are heard questioning the woman about the suspect before the video ends.
Stephenson is to return to court on March 30 for sentencing. Arrangements have been made for him to pay restitution.
He is to appear in court next Tuesday in relation to a previous matter involving the complainant.
