DeAndre Daley, teammate escape serious injury in car crash
HANOVER, Jamaica – CARIFTA Games Under 20 boys 100m champion Deandre Daley and his Herbert Morrison Technical track and field teammate Andre Daley (no relation) walked away from a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of the Round Hill Hotel in Hanover on Friday morning.
OBSERVER ONLINE understands that the boys, who live in the Hopewell area, were passengers in a taxi which got out of control, crashed and overturned.
It is understood that the boys were taken to a medical doctor before they were released to go to school.
Claude Grant, coach of the Herbert Morrison track team, confirmed the incident with OBSERVER ONLINE and said the boys had been taken to get medical attention before reporting to the
school.
Deandre Daley had a breakout season in 2022, winning the CARIFTA Games Under-20 100m in a personal best 10.23 seconds and being part of the winning Under-20 4x100m relay team at the event. He also won the COCAA Western Champs boys Class 1 sprint double and was third in the Class 1 boys 100m at the ISSA athletic championships.
