A Picture-Perfect 2023 at Moodz and Kulcha House
The new year kicked off in earnest Monday, January 9, at Island Village, Ocho Rios, with the grand reveal of Moodz and Kulcha House, a selfie museum and culture habitat geared towards establishing memorable moments through pictures.
Moodz and Kulcha House principal Monique Walcott, who was on hand to welcome specially invited guests, shared, “Selfies have become a big deal. We live in a time where we want to share everything, we want to share our experiences, we want you to crave what it is that we are doing, and we want you to do what we are doing so that we can all do it together, even virtually. And so it is my absolute pleasure to bring to Jamaica something I think will benefit all. The opening of this modern art museum is not just about coming in and taking photos; it’s about experiencing Jamaica in different ways.”
“The look of the rooms,” she continued, “will change every six months to showcase different scenes. We want to create that now experience without you having to go too far. For our cruise-shippers, for example, who invariably have a short window [in which to do a lot]… We can create a Lover’s Leap backdrop and afford them their picture-perfect moment.”
Walcott envisages the museum as a cultural hub where local talent is on display and stresses that the museum is for everyone who appreciates local culture.
Moodz and Kulcha House currently features seven selfie alcoves, notably Matrix, Glitz & Glam, Abstract Illusion, The Vineyard, Colour World, Flower Bomb and Viva Magenta, Pantone’s colour for 2023.
Brand partners who came on board for this picture-perfect venture include Lynk as well as Select Brands and Red Stripe which will provide speciality cocktails.
Friday Social shares highlights from the launch as photo enthusiasts flocked the new snap-intensive hot spot where, in addition to the endless rotation of cocktails provided by Moodz and Kulcha House’s drink partners, Select Brands and Red Stripe, there were delectable bites courtesy of Jacqui Tyson.
