A special gift at a special time
IT’S not your typical Christmas gift, but perhaps even more appreciated given the continuing focus on health and safety in Jamaica at this time.
Certainly, the 46 schools from across the island selected by CIBC FirstCaribbean to receive a set of COVID-19 self-test kits were grateful and thankful.
As the principal of Wolmer’s Preparatory School Kemar Christie said, “Children are very sociable, whatever one has the others are bound to get it; so we are truly happy for these kits.”
The kits were presented to some of the schools at the bank’s New Kingston headquarters on December 6 by branch managers Diana Warren — New Kingston; Maggie McGann Williams — Liguanea; Debbie Henry — Manor Park; and Marketing Manager Renee Whitehorne.
Benefiting from the kits were Montego Bay schools Mount Alvernia, Cornwall College, Flanker Primary, Montego Bay Christian Academy, Albion Primary & Junior High, and Bishop Roman Catholic. Kingston recipients were Franklyn Town Primary School, St Aloysius Primary School, Mavisville Preparatory School, Norman Manley High, Melrose Primary & Junior High, Lannamans Prep, Best Care Foundation, Ardenne High, St Francis Primary, Wolmer’s Prep, Wolmer’s Girls’, and Wolmer’s Boys’. St Catherine schools were Elohim Learning Centre, Bright Beginnings Educational Centre and Portmore Missionary Prep. Ocho Rios schools were Iona High, Ocho Rios High and Marcus Garvey Technical.
Also benefiting under the programme were Mandeville schools Bethabara Primary, Kendal Primary and Grove Town Primary. In Savanna-la-Mar, the schools were McDonald’s Tiny Stars, Waterworks Early Childhood and The Manning’s School; and in Port Antonio — Port Antonio High, Fair Prospect High and Boundbrook Primary.
