Jaheid BadBreed looks to 2023
EMERGING deejay Floyd “Jaheid BadBreed” Sterling says his debut EP Up Inna Them Town has attracted favourable responses from supporters.
“The response that I got from my EP, it was mind-blowing because a lot of people all over the globe have been reaching out to me saying they love the work,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
The seven-track April release was self-produced on his Badbreed Records.
He noted that he has always had an interest in music, even while attending the Caribbean Maritime University where he studied logistics and supply chain management.
“What sparked my interest to take up music to a next level is [the area] where I am from. I come from a community that had the likes of [dancehall choreographers] John Hype and Bogle, and because of their influences this bring the sound system Fire Links around and Stone Love — and this bring a lot of artistes around so I got to know Beenie Man and a lot of artistes,” he explained.
Further stating that he would love to do a collaboration with Teejay, Jaheid said his brother has also been instrumental in his career.
“I was influenced by my little brother to put out an EP; he says I have all these materials and the world needs to hear them. So, he was the main reason for putting this together,” he shared.
The deejay has his eyes on bigger goals for the upcoming year.
“The only thing, to be honest, what I need to do is master marketing fully — and I know with that and good materials I could create a good impact in dancehall music and reggae,” he said.
“For 2023 my goal is to work on some big stage. I have my eyes on Reggae Sumfest so for 2023 I plan to put in some serious work,” he said.
