Police announce traffic changes, restrictions for Burna Boy concert
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police are advising members of the public of the traffic changes and the restrictions that will be implemented for the Burna Boy Live Concert scheduled for Sunday, December 18 at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Before the concert:
· Mountain View Avenue/Deanery Road
· Mountain View Avenue/Arthur Wint Drive: there will be limited access to authorised patrons and shuttle buses.
· Stanton Terrace/Roosevelt Avenue: there will be limited access to Ultra VIPs, residents, business operators and people attending the Bustamante Hospital for Children.
· Latham Avenue/Old Hope Road: limited access will be granted to residents and individuals visiting the Bustamante Hospital for Children.
· North Avenue/Old Hope Road: residents of Swallowfield will be allowed access.
· Tom Redcam/Arthur Wint Drive: limited access will be given to shuttle buses, Ultra VIPs, residents and individuals going to the Bustamante Hospital for Children.
No parking will be allowed along the following roads:
· Arthur Wint Drive
· Roosevelt Avenue
· Latham Avenue
· Stanton Terrace
· Mountain View Avenue
· Tom Redcam
· The slip road where the ticket office is located
After the event:
· After the event, with the exception of Mountain View Avenue/Deanery Road and Tom Redcam Drive/Arthur Wint Drive—where shuttle buses will be operating—all other closures instituted before the event will be removed to allow for a smooth movement of traffic.
· Arthur Wint Drive, between Roosevelt Avenue and Tom Redcam Drive will be operated as a two-way to allow for the movement of shuttle buses to and from National Heroes Circle.
· The northbound section of Mountain View Avenue, between Deanery Road and Arthur Wint Drive will remain closed to the general motoring public in order to facilitate the movement of shuttle buses.
· Roosevelt Avenue will be operated as a one-way from the National Stadium towards Stanton Terrace and Old Hope Road.
Additionally, motorists and pedestrians are being asked to obey all directions given by the police and other security personnel, who will be deployed in adequate numbers to ensure the safety of all.
Meanwhile, patrons are also advised on the following restrictions:
· No firearms, knives, ice picks, machetes, aerosol sprays, large igloos, glass bottles, lighters, fire crackers, frozen water or drinks, alcohol and umbrellas with pointed tips will be allowed inside the venue.
· No smoking will be allowed inside and individuals found in breach may be asked to leave the stadium. Also, walkways should be kept clear at all times in cases of emergency. The organisers have also advised that there will be a strict no re-entry policy.
· Licensed firearm holders are being advised to make alternative arrangements for the safekeeping of their firearms, as no provisions will be made at the venue or at the Stadium Police Station.
· Patrons are also being reminded that all individuals entering the stadium will be subject to search.
· Vendors are being warned that vending will not be tolerated outside the designated areas.
