Five minutes with FRi~NALLY duo Jared Samuel and Daniel Wong
IT was the third anniversary of FRi~NALLY, the official weekend kickstarter founded by marketer phenomena-turned-FRi~NALLY promoter Jared Samuel and business partner and former finance manager Daniel Wong two Fridays ago at RWC Courtyard.
We sat down with the duo to discuss their plans for FRi~NALLY, an event series that has become a staple on the Friday night event calendar for patrons looking for a top-end party experience, with the down-to-earth energy dancehall music is known for.
C&E: When and why did you launch FRi~NALLY?
JS: In 2019, Daniel and I had a private birthday party and everyone had such a good time we decided to keep a Friday night party which turned into what people know as FRi~NALLY today.
DW: We wanted to bring new energy to Friday nights in Kingston. So we’ve created a backyard oasis fitted with top-of-the-line stage and string lighting that has become our signature look. The event series is sponsored by Worthy Park Select Jamaican Rum.
C&E: It’s been three years, what’s next?
DW: We celebrated our third anniversary with Munga Honorable two Friday nights ago. The plan for 2023 is to come back bigger and better.
JS: Our fri-nal event for the season was December 2.
C&E: What made you decide to be party promoters ?
JS: I’ve spent years working as a brand manager in the spirits world. During that time I met a lot of people so it was an easy transition into the party scene.
DW: We wanted to create a party experience that separates us from the pack. The ambience is nice, the patrons are influencers, celebrities, and music industry players. We’ve had Bounty Killer show up. Two Fridays ago pro footballer Leon Bailey showed up. So you just never know which star will walk into our party.
C&E: What do you like the most about working in the entertainment industry ?
JS: No two Fridays are the same
DW: The possibilities are endless.
