Reggae Youths race to fourth-straight win
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Reggae Youths raced to a fourth- straight win on Friday when they beat Cambridge FC 2-0 in the top-of-the-table clash in the St James Football Association Sandals Major League game played at the UDC field.
It was the first loss of the season for Cambridge FC as they fell to second place in the tables on nine points, three behind Reggae Youths. There were also wins for Granville United over Lilliput Rovers and Flanker FC over winless Montego Bay Boys Club.
On Friday, Denardo Kerr gave Reggae Youths the lead in the 10th minute and Shadane Blagrove added a second in the 82nd minute as they extended their winning start to the season.
On Saturday Granville United won back-to-back games with a 2-1 victory over Lilliput Rovers at Spot Valley High.
All three goals came in the second half as Davin Hines gave Granville United the lead in the 59th minute and Odaine Snow scored his second goal of the season to double their advantage in the 76th minute.
Terrick Dixon pulled one back for Lilliput Rovers when he scored in the 79th minute.
Denri Williams scored a double for Flanker FC, who rebounded from their loss to Reggae Youths the previous weekend to beat Montego Bay Boys Club 3-1 on Friday.
Williams, who improved to four goals, tied for the lead with Reggae Youths’ Oshane Thompson, scored in the 28th and 54th minutes and triggered a flurry of goals over the next few minutes.
An own goal in the 55th minute took the score to 3-0 before Damari Grant scored for Montego Bay Boys Club in the 56th minute.
