PRODUCER Sanjay “Steel Chest” Norman is encouraged by reception to his latest production, Repent by Silk Boss. The song is on the Outta Space Records and peaked at number nine on YouTube‘s trending list.
“Working with Silk is like water to a cup. [The] energy can’t compare. [I’m] always going the extra mile for this career; the work will never stop,” Steel Chest told the Jamaica Observer‘s Splash.
“Silk Boss is compared to some of dancehall and reggae’s legends because of the impact he has in the industry,” he continued.
The track, which was released on October 30, is already on its way to 500,000 views on the streaming platform.
According to Steel Chest, Repent speaks to the number of adversaries the deejay has encountered this year and his determination.
“This song is called Repent based on what transpired in the year of him being exposed on the video; being disrespected and the car crash,” the producer said.
Silk Boss, given name Rohan Reid, hails from Irwin, St James. His popular tracks include Surgery, Sorry, Last Nation, and Mankind.
In September, Silk Boss was asked to report to the Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch in relation to a viral video being circulated of him being assaulted.
In addition, he says since contacting the deejay a little over a year ago, they have developed a strong work chemistry.
“I reached out to the silk in August of 2021 to put in some work from then we never look back, work in overdrive from then,” he said, adding that he hopes the song reaches global charts.
The Manchester native has been in the music business for 10 years and has worked with other acts including Marksman (Verified Choppa and Top Coote) and 1Biggs Don (Bwoii Affi).
