Kobe Lawrence heading to University of Oregon
National junior thrower Kobe Lawrence will be taking his talents to the University of Oregon.
The Oregon Ducks track and field programme made the announcement Thursday via Instagram, unveiling the Calabar High standout as part of its 2023 recruitment class.
Lawrence will join the likes of world championships silver medalist Kemba Nelson and sprinter Xavier Nairne as Jamaican student-athletes at the school.
The 18-year-old threw a personal best 20.58 metres to win silver in the shot put at the World Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia last summer.
In April of this year, he won the Under-20 shot put gold at the Carifta Games with a new record 20.02 metres.
