Jamaica women 3×3 basketball shock FIBA tourney in Miami
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s women created a major upset on Friday’s first day of the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup 2022 basketball played outside the FTX Arena in Miami after topping Pool C and advancing to Sunday’s quarterfinals.
The Jamaican women beat Chile 18-17 and then toppled world ranked Argentina 12-8 and looks to be medal contenders, if they can keep up the pace.
The men’s team, however, failed to get past the first qualifying round, losing St Lucia and Barbados, after getting walk-over win over Colombia.
The Jamaican women were led by Morgan Green, who scored 11 points in their come from behind win against Chile, and eight against Argentina.
Thirty-one teams are taking part in the three day event, 18 in the men’s and 13 in the women’s competitions.
