Horro General is Fire Hot
While concerned that Jamaican youths have become increasingly wayward, singer Horro General believes the best way to point them in the right direction is encouragement.
He does that on Fire Hot, his latest song, which is produced by Syn Citi Entertainment.
“Reason for singing a song like Fire Hot is that I am not the one to just point fingers at the artiste, the police, the government for the operating of the youths in today’s world. I am trying to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem, ” said Horro General. “What are you doing individually to be a part of the solution as we all see the direction the youths of our country are going.”
Fire Hot is one of four songs on the Furnace rhythm which was released in September by the Florida-based Syn Citi Entertainment.
Having cut his teeth on the competitive Portmore dancehall circuit, Horro General knows what to look for in a potential hit rhythm.
“Before recording on a riddim I would listen for the bounce of the drums and could analyse if this is a riddim that can get the crowd moving before even hearing a song on it. Naturally, from yuh hear certain riddims you can always assume that it will be a hit. As the great Shabba Ranks said, ‘artiste ears cock up when them hear boom riddim’,” he explained.
Horro General (real name Gregory Malcolm) is from Edgewater in Portmore. He began recording in 2018 and has recorded a number of songs since, including Fullbore and Dancer’s Segment, the latter a collaboration with Elephant Man.
