Medical doctor releases second single
One of Jamaica’s newest deejays, a medical doctor, has voiced his second single, which he hopes will make even greater waves than his first.
Dr Antoine Fraser, whose artiste name is Antoineodol, yesterday released the single Boom.
The Kingston College old boy, who is now into private practice at Winchester Surgical and Medical Institute in St Andrew, following an earlier stint at the University Hospital of the West Indies, has been a lover of music from his high school days, and says he wants to continue to improve the atmosphere with decent lyrics. So, from his historic release, Lava, Dr Fraser now hopes to take a few steps up.
“I used to jokingly deejay while at school because I liked to rhyme a lot, but it was always a gimmick for me, although my friends were saying that I sounded good and I should take it seriously. But I was always this shy person,” Dr Fraser told the Jamaica Observer.
He said that earlier this year he met artiste ‘Annalist’, who, having heard him, urged him to get deeper into the popular art form and put his music into the public domain.
“My first release was entitled Lava which is a spicy theme for the ladies,” said the son of well-known surgeon Dr Ray Fraser and wife Angella, a scholar and businesswoman.
“The more people heard it was the more they loved it. I got a huge confidence booster when other artistes urged me to do more. There were many positive opinions.
“This new second release is entitled Boom which is a follow-up to Lava but with a more aggressive style,” he continued. Lava was loved by many, both locally and internationally. It was a confidence booster receiving many positive comments. My official Youtube channel is AntoineodolVEVO.
I did not initially plan to release music that often but since the support is so encouraging and humbling I decided to go ahead with another project,” the young man said.
Key to his functioning is his ability to balance both medicine and music, and be happy doing it, he stated.
And even as he contemplates digging deeper into music as the opportunities arise, Dr Fraser is also focused on doing postgraduate studies in general surgery before long.
Boom‘s lyrics were composed by him, with support from studio engineer Franc White who did the mixing and mastering; Lagiks Supreme who shot and edited the music video at Penthouse Records; and Speedy Ace with the instrumentals.
