Ex-soldier gunned down in Westmoreland identified
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – The Westmoreland Police have identified the ex-soldier who was shot and killed by unknown assailants in Hertford, Westmoreland on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Kemar Reid otherwise called ‘Dijab’, a bar operator in the community.
A woman was also injured during the incident.

According to a police source, Reid is reportedly a known violence producer.
According to the police report, Reid and the injured woman were seated at the front of his bar when a silver Toyota Axio motor car drove up from the direction of Fort William and two men approached with firearms.
The men then opened gunfire in the direction of Reid and the woman, both of whom ran in different directions.
The gunmen then chased Reid and continued firing at him until he collapsed. The gunmen fled the scene in the silver Toyota Axio motorcar in the direction of Hertford Square.
Reid and the woman were subsequently assisted by residents to the Savanna-La-Mar Public
General Hospital where Reid was pronounced dead. The woman was treated and admitted for gunshot wounds to her right breast and the lower section of her right arm.
