Jamaica Premier League clubs to benefit through merchandising
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL) says it aims to make the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) clubs more self-sustainable this season.
The announcement was made by new PFJL Chief Executive Officer, Owen Hill, at the league’s official media launch on Thursday evening.
Hill says two of the measures to be used to ensure this are the creation of a website to sell all clubs’ merchandise, and by preparation of clubs with opportunities for investment.
“In short order, you’ll learn more about some of our exciting projects on the horizon, such as the online store,” Hill said. “With select partnerships, fan replica gear and kits will be on sale, and we’ll also have them in select retail outlets.
“Our club listing project is also another exciting pilot that we have. There are three clubs that will be internally prepared, with the help of our partners, NCB Capital Markets, for key investment opportunities. We’re currently in the early stage of preparing these clubs so that soon and very soon, you will be able to invest in these same clubs.”
The JPL kicks off on Sunday, October 23, with Humble Lion hosting last season’s runners-up Dunbeholden at 5:00 pm.
