ATL Automotive to donate US$100 for every car sold in October to JCS
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The ATL Automotive Group says it will be donating US$100 for every new and pre-owned vehicle sold through its dealerships during the month of October to the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS) to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Managing Director of ATL Automotive, Patrick Wilson, stated that this move is to support the work that the JCS has done within the health sector, and the awareness it has brought to the different cancers plaguing Jamaicans.
“To support the ongoing efforts by the Jamaica Cancer Society, we will be donating US$100 for every new and pre-owned vehicle sold through our dealerships during the month of October. We celebrate the work undertaken by the JCS in our local health sector. Many people have benefitted immensely from being screened for different cancers, including breast, cervical, and prostate, and many lives have been saved,” Wilson said.
Breast cancer has been the most common cancer among Jamaican women, with the Ministry of Health and Wellness reporting over 1,200 new diagnoses in 2020. Globally, the numbers were just as alarming, with a total of 2.26 million cases, making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world.
With the inception of the JCS in 1955, the agency has worked to eliminate cancer as a major problem in Jamaica through a range of cancer control and prevention services offered at a subsidised rate.
In joining other corporate entities who give to the JCS every October, Wilson said that he hopes this year’s donation from the ATL Automotive Group will have a positive impact on those who benefit from the agency’s services.
“We hope that through this donation, we are able to assist in furthering the organisation’s mission and that many more lives will be impacted in a meaningful way,” he stated.
