Singjay Nessa B bares her soul
Singjay Nessa B knows the pain of heartbreak only too well. She pours her emotions into her latest single Yuh Neva Ready.
“Yuh Neva Ready is based on a true story and recounts the emotional and physical abuse I was going through during a period in my life but life eventually changed for me when my son came in the world and brought joy into my life. That was when I decided to pick up the pieces of my life, heal and move on, and that is an important message for young girls,” she said.
The single was released on September 1 (her birthday) on the Wheelie Don Production label.
Nessa B has been engaged in philanthropic activities as she recently donated a 200-gallon water tank to the Richmond Park Nazarene Basic School in Kingston with the monetary assistance of Wheelie Don Production, Cevon Media and Gold Sac Records.
“Charity begins at home. The school reached out to me [and] said the school community had a pressing need because they had water challenges as they had no backup in case there were water lockoffs in the area. They wanted assistance and as an artiste in the community, I responded, and I was happy to make it possible, and I want to help them build a playground later on if I can get sponsors,” she said.
Nessa B, whose given name is Vennissa Marriott, grew up in Balmagie Avenue in Waterhouse, before moving to Portmore, St Catherine. She attended Norman Manley High between 1999 and 2003, where she honed her skills deejaying against the boys.
After leaving Norman Manley High, she completed her secondary education at The Queen’s School.
In 2019, she got her first big break on the single Mi Nuh Play (D Dot Records label) and Bad Gal Saga (K Natural Entertainment Records label).
She is known for Rod of Correction, What Kinda World Are We Living In? and System Nah Pree featuring Laygus for Chase Mills Records.
