It’s ‘More Than Enough’ for Raheim Betty
MORE Than Enough is the debut single from Raheim “Raybetz” Betty. Released recently, the single is produced by Odane Mais.
According to the singer, the song was birthed from “a dark place; from a place of depression”. He added that More Than Enough is a testimony and hopes that others would “experience that feeling where they feel good by listening to it”.
Betty is a native of Ocho Rios, St Ann. He discovered his singing talent while he was a student at Knox College, before he moved to Iona High School where he now works as an English language and literature teacher.
“I really didn’t know I could sing before, until I was probably in the bathroom singing one day, thought it was normal, [and] somebody heard me and thought it was something more,” he shared.
He was subsequently invited to choir rehearsals and started singing tenor – a note he had never sung before. The 28-year-old, who recently graduated with a first degree in communication studies from Northern Caribbean University, honed his skills by watching social media.
“I took it into my own hands, went on YouTube, found mentors like Kim Burrell, John Legend, and Chris Brown,” he highlighted.
Betty has participated in competitions such as All Together Sing, Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s (JCDC) Gospel and Gospel Star competitions in 2017 and 2021, as well as in the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2018.
He hopes to release an album in the latter part of 2023 on which he will display his versatility with different musical genres.
