Flash flood warning downgraded to flash flood watch for southern parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has downgraded the Flash Flood Warning to a Flash Flood Watch for southern parishes.
A Flash Flood Watch means flooding is possible and citizens are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further news releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
The agency says rain associated with Hurricane Ian continues to lash much of the northwestern Caribbean.
According to reports from the US National Hurricane Center Hurricane, Ian is currently thrashing Cuba and could become a strong category four hurricane by the time it reaches Florida on Wednesday.
