Jamaican-American Emmy-Award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph scores another major feature. This time in InStyle magazine’s September celebrity issue. Ralph chops it up in an interview with the mag’s Senior Culture Writer Meecham Whitson Meriweather, for a feature titled, ‘Sheryl Lee Ralph Isn’t Afraid to Try Something New.’
“I am looking forward to producing some wonderful material, whether it’s onstage or on the screen, I want to bring forward some of those stories that have not been told before. There was a time when there was no interest in stories that had to do with people of colour, black people. And I would love to give life to some of those stories because I truly believe in the Holy Impossible. I’m just ready to bring the impossible to light,” she shared.
For the story’s cover photo, Ralph dons an orange ensemble curated by her fashion-forward digital creator daughter, Ivy-Victoria Maurice. “My daughter understands my style, and we work well together. She knows that I can flip between drag queen and classic Americana, and find comfort in both those things,” Ralph explained.
Plus, Jamaican model Kyla Ramsey styles in ‘Living For The City’, a fashion story lensed by Australian New York-based photographer Simon Eeles for The Sunday Times Style September 11th issue.
The mag’s stylist Verity Parker chose street-savvy, sartorial pieces from a selection of brands including Celine by Hedi Slimane, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Prada and Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello for Ramsey’s ‘lewks.’
