JPS says work underway to restore electricity in sections of St Andrew
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has sought to assure customers in sections of St Andrew that they are working to restore reported disruptions.
In a tweet on Saturday morning, JPS said areas from Havendale to Red Hills, Rock Hall and its environs had experienced outages. The light and power company says teams have been dispatched to investigate the issue and restore service as soon as possible.
JPS on Friday said as Tropical Storm Ian approaches the island, it began mobilising crews and other critical elements of its operations to manage the impact of the severe weather system this weekend.
In a news release, it reminded customers that the severe weather system may result in extended power outages, as has been experienced in neighbouring territories.
