CUMI golf tourney tees off
ORGANISERS of the second Tryall-CUMI Charity Golf Tournament, set to tee off this morning at 9:00 on the Tryall Club course in Hanover, are optimistic they will have a full field of 72 golfers.
A day before the start, Trina Delliser, chairperson of the organising committee, said they had confirmed 66 golfers — including a number of the island’s top amateurs — for the event that is offering up attractive prizes. The prizes include a Mitsubishi Pajero from Stewart’s Automotive Group, valued at $10 million, for the winner of the hole-in-one competition that will be held on the par three 10th hole at the Tryall course.
Former national amateur champion Sean Morris as well as Jamaica Golf Association President Jody Munn, Robert Chin and Zandre Raye are all expected to play on Saturday.
The competition will be a two-person team scramble, with Munn and her playing partner Keith Stein as the defending champions.
The event is being held to help raise funds for the Committee for the Upliftment of the Mentally Ill (CUMI), an organisation based in Montego Bay.
Among the other attractive prizes to be won will be the ‘Closest to the pin’ contest that will see the winner getting $50,000 plus a trophy, while there will also be a ‘Longest drive’ competition as well as any eagles on any of the par five holes on the course.
