Jamaica reports 71 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 71 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Sunday, September 18, bringing the infection total to 151, 340.
The new cases comprise 46 females and 25 males, with ages ranging from 6 days to 86 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (20), St Catherine (13), St Ann (nine), Clarendon (seven), St James (six), St Mary (four), Trelawny (three), Westmoreland (three), St Thomas (two), St Elizabeth (two), Portland (one) and Manchester (one).
Two deaths were recorded for the period. These were a 53-year-old male and a 64-year-old female from Kingston & St Andrew.
There were 116 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 98,252.
Currently, 102 people are hospitalised, 26 of whom are moderately ill, seven severely ill and two in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 16.2 per cent.
