Heartease outscore Yallahs in St Thomas Major League
IN the final stages of the match, two goals from Obryan McKenzie propelled Heartease United to a 4-2 beating of Yallahs All Star in a six-goal thriller, in one of two border clashes of the 2022 Serge St Thomas Major League over the weekend.
Playing at the Heartease Community Centre on Sunday, Tamar Francis put Yallahs in front with a strike in the eighth minute but Akeem Reid equalised for Heartease United six minutes later. Ryan Wiltshire made it 2-1 in favour of Heartease in the 25th minute to give his team the advantage going into the break.
On minute 52 Orlando Ricketts equalised for Yallahs, and the match seemed headed for a draw until late fireworks erupted as the brilliant McKenize scored in the 89th minute and again in the fourth minute of time added to secure victory for Heartease.
In the day’s other game, Bath Sports Club (SC) whipped debutants Elite FC 5-1 at SDC, Springfield, with braces from Kayeel Remeikie and Jahvanie Henry. Thorn Dyer got Bath’s other goal. Devon Atkinson was the lone scorer for Elite.
In another border clash on Saturday, Seaforth SC and York United ended prematurely at 3-3 in another six-goal cracker when persistent rain stopped play in the 66th minute at Seaforth High School.
Rashann Millwood (2nd minute), Renar Edwards (29th minute), and Jamiel Bernard (67th minute) scored for Seaforth while Kareem King (9th minute), Miquel Ricketts (10th minute) and Chandol Anderson (40th minute) scored for York United.
The competition continues on Wednesday with White Horses hosting Seaforth SC at SDC, Springfield, at 3:00 pm.
