Tropical Storm Fiona no threat to Jamaica – Met Service
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has advised that Tropical Storm Fiona is not a threat to Jamaica at this time.
According to the latest weather update, the forecast track for Tropical Storm Fiona consistently moves the centre over the northeastern Caribbean Sea on Saturday and over the Dominican Republic on Monday. The Turks & Caicos Islands and southeastern Bahamas are next at risk but there is still no threat to Jamaica.
Data from an Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds are near 50 km/h with higher gusts.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the progress of this system.
