Popcaan awaits the ‘Post’
A collaboration between dancehall star Popcaan and American rapper/singer/songwriter Post Malone is reportedly in the works.
The disclosure was made by Post Malone’s Manager Dre London in an interview with the Jamaica Observer‘s Splash.
Dre London, who is currently promoting his tequila brand Don Londre’s, has Jamaican heritage.
“Me and Popcaan have already discussed songs with him and Post. Post loves Popcaan, they’ve actually already met at one of Post’s shows in the UK. I also have this dream of a collaboration with Post and Damian Marley,” he said.
Since he emerged on the music scene more than 12 years ago, Popcaan has collaborated with a slew of international acts including Melissa Steel, Jorja Smith, Naughty Boy, The Gorillaz, Jamie xx and Young Thug, Burna Boy, Davido, Maroon 5, Drake, Snoop Lion, Giggs, and AlunaGeorge.
He has scored hit songs on the British chart including Kisses For Breakfast, I’m in Control, Should’ve Been Me and Saturnz Barz.
Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, has gained acclaim for blending genres and sub-genres of hip hop, pop, R&B, and trap.
He began his music career in 2011. Four years later, he gained recognition with his debut single White Iverson which peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Post Malone eventually signed a recording contract with Republic Records and released his first studio album, Stoney (2016). It contains the diamond-certified single Congratulations (featuring Quavo) and set the record for most weeks (77) on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart.
To date, Post Malone has released four albums. Among his Billboard hits are Sunflower (featuring Swae Lee), Enemies featuring DaBaby, Paranoid, Notice Me featuring Migos, Out Right Now featuring The Weeknd, Better Now, Psycho and Rock Star.
He has sold more than 13 million albums, 95 million digital singles and is ranked as the eighth best-selling digital artiste.
Malone has won 10 Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and one MTV Video Music Award. He has received nine Grammy Award nominations.
