Saturday evening’s gala event celebrating the opening of the Rayon McLean-directed theatrical revue
It was an evening of laughter as the cast members performed a series of skits, many of which included spoofs of several public figures.
Plus, Rock sensation Sheryl Lee Ralph is a first-time Emmy nominee, first-time Emmy winner, and her acceptance speech was one for the ages. Ralph wore Jamaican handbag designer, Brandon Blackwood’s first red carpet gown.
“A Jamaican-owned brand just dressed a Jamaican Emmy winner! Words cannot describe this feeling! When I was young, I used to cut up my mom’s old clothes and sew them together and make new outfits… I would then make my cousins @itscortni and @cara_xoxox wear my designs down our living room runway in front of the family. Now this!” expressed Blackwood on his IG minutes after Ralph’s speech started trending.
“After the fitting for this dress. @thesherylleeralph and I had a glass of champagne together. I told her how much it meant to me that she took a chance on us to make her dress for her first time at the Emmys.
She told me her life motto which was “It ALWAYS works out”.
Jamaica to the world! I love you, appreciate, and congratulate you on this epic win!
