Friday, September 9 marked the official start of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and Caribbean representation began immediately! An early standout was Grenadian designer Fe Noel, who closed her Friday presentation with her first couture piece: The ‘Dre$$’. The look, created in partnership with financial services company TIAA, was a show-stopper and made a statement on the earning disparity that leaves women with an average of 30 per cent less in retirement savings than men.
The weekend also saw Saint International models making even more fashion memories as Kai Newman, Tomiwa, Naki Depass, and Lawrence walked for Altuzarra, Ulla Johnson, Tibi, and Marni, respectively.
Saturday’s highlight was Rock-fab famous faces Grace Jones and Winnie Harlow dotting the front row at the Fendi show, as the brand used its NYFW slot to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic Baguette.
